Transport is an essential part of our everyday lives and is central to sustainable development. Sustainable, efficient, and well-maintained transport infrastructure allows urban and rural dwellers the opportunity to participate in economic opportunities and access essential services including employment, trade, business, education, health services, and social interaction. ICED’s work has focused on the role of transport in promoting trade and inclusion, examining the role of transport in Women’s Economic Empowerment, reduction in violence against women and girls, and how transport can be designed inclusively to meet the needs of the disabled.
